What You’ll Learn: 

Session 1–2: Clay & Tile Foundations

• Understanding clay types for tiles
• Slab building and forming perfect tiles
• Tile thickness, shrinkage & warping control
• Tile drying methods & kiln firing basics
• You’ll create: 3–4 base tiles ready for design work

Session 3–5: Tile Design & Mural Planning

• Designing wall-friendly tile layouts
• Textured, patterned & raised tile techniques
• Making Lego-style tiles and pixel-style blocks
• Planning your mural-style tile grid
• You’ll start: Your multi-tile mural panel

Session 6–7: Mosaic, Pixel & Clay Quilt Tiles

• Creating mosaic tile patterns
• Pixel tile grid mapping & colour placement
• Clay-quilt pattern using mixed tile sizes
• Planning seamless decorative tile panels
• You’ll complete: One mosaic / pixel / quilt tile project
  

Session 8–9: Underglaze & On-Glaze Tile Finishing

• Introduction to underglaze vs on-glaze
• Colour layering, detail lines & surface finishing
• Firing cycles for durable wall tiles
• Working with multiple glaze stages
• You’ll finish: Glazing & firing your mural and skill panels

Session 10–12: Tile Fixing & Installation

• Wall & floor preparation for tile work
• Choosing the right adhesives & grouts
• Aligning patterned tiles for clean layouts
• Grouting, cleaning, sealing & finishing
• You’ll practice: Installing your own tile panel on mounting boards

Session 13–14: Final Tile Project

• Designing your own mural-style panel (8–15 tiles)
• Forming, detailing, glazing, firing
• Installing on a take-home display board
• You’ll complete: A polished, portfolio-ready artwork

Session 15–17: Live Installation Project

• Real-world tile installation experience
• Measuring, planning & aligning full layouts
• Fixing, grouting & finishing with professional tools
• Group installation inside the studio (or partner wall)
• You’ll gain: Practical, real installation experience for your portfolio
